New Tip: Some PKers will cast sleep on you, and while you are incapacitated,
they will cast 'heat metal' to get your equipment to fall off! The sleep spell
can last for a very long time... use the 'rest' command to break out of it.
Warrior/Gladiators
Race Suggestions:
Minotaurs - Excellent Bashing, but dexterity is low.
Half-orc - Average Bashing, 24 dexterity the norm.
Drow - Average Bashing, 25 dexterity, but low constitution.
Human - Easy to level, high hp, but only average stats.
Weapon Tips:
Get all weapons except for polearm and staff. Your chance of disarming
someone is determined by your percentage skill in their weapon, and your
own.
Always be on the prowl for new and better weapons. Karrickish Dagger, etc.
Do you have a weapon that is anti-good/evil? Enchant it until you 'accidently'
wipe it clean of all dam/hit bonuses. It will no longer be anti-good/evil,
but will keep the other weapon flags (vorpal, flaming, etc.)
General Tips:
Before you Hero, always initiate PK with dirtkick. Your opponent, blinded,
will be much easier to defeat.
Carry lots of weight. Load up on rafts, or even just lots of coins. The
heavier you are, the more effectively you bash, and you are more resistant
to bashing.
BASH - If your opponents are gladiators try
to get first bash. As a rule, if you land first bash you will probably be
the only one bashing during the battle. If you lose it by falling flat in
your face, you will give the opponent the upper hand.
Bashing an opponent also prevents or hinders your opponent from using the
following skills: dirtkick, gouge, circle, bash, deathtouch, spell-casting,
trip.
Bashing doesn't necesarily make use of the above skills impossible, but when
bashing them, they have a hard time working with those skills.
Use 'Dirt Kick' to blind your foes.
Try to get 'Stun' raised up - it works with 'Bash'
How to PK Against Them.
Blind them - it prevents them from using bash.
Yeah, they may have the 'Rub' skill to remove it,
But the 'blindness' spell works well, too.
Use 'Lifeforce' if you have it. They will have hitpoints to burn.
Mages/Wizards
Playing One
Get pets, and use them.
How to PK Against Them.
If you have pets, order them all to bash.
They will bash the wizard and he will lose 1-2 rounds of spells.
Thieves/Mercenaries
Playing One
Gouge, Backstab and Circle.
How to PK Against Them.
Blind them - it prevents them from using 'Circle'
Which gives them the ability to backstab in combat!
Rangers/Striders
Playing One
Use entangle and your cave bear for bashing.
Stay on the move, use your healing spells.
Throw maledictions like weak, slow, and faerie fire at enemies to slow
them down.
How to PK Against Them.
type 'k <strider's name> - That'll do it! :)
Druids/Sages
Playing One
Bless your equipment.
Maximize your saving throws.
Then your maledictions (including entangle and curse) will land easily.
How to PK Against Them.
If you have the energy drain spell, try to cast it on them. Their lifeforce will be almost halved.
Playing a Priest at Hero
Try to get a friendly strider or gladiator
to rescue you during battle, so you can full heal
your clannies during the couple of seconds of time
the rescue will buy you.
Against a Priest at Hero
Bashing him (with pets if possible) will make him useless as he will not be able to full heal
your enemies. If you and a friend are engaged in combat with a priest and a friend
of the priest, one of you must keep him busy, spamming attacks on him even if he flees, in case he comes back.
This way he will never land a full heal on his friend.
